Meet Jesse Martin
Jesse grew up in a family of tradespeople. His dad is a carpenter and builder, his uncles all work in construction, and his twin brother is also in the industry - which is where the name Twinbuilt comes from. From a young age, being on-site was just part of life. By the time he was nine, he already had a hammer in his hand and was learning what it meant to do a job properly.
After finishing school and gaining his qualifications, Jesse spent time working in Sydney before returning home to Canberra to start Twinbuilt. Like most small businesses, it didn’t begin with big projects - just a small cash job fixing a rangehood. He’ll tell you he probably lost money on it, but it was never about that. It was about getting his name out there and doing quality work people would remember.
Six years on, Twinbuilt has completed over 320 projects and built a reputation where the majority of work comes from referrals and word of mouth. That’s something Jesse values most - because it means people trust him enough to recommend him to their family and friends.
Jesse holds both a Carpenter/Joiner Licence and a Bathroom, Kitchen and Laundry Renovation Licence, allowing him to legally manage all trades on-site, including plumbing and electrical. But more importantly, he is on-site every day, personally overseeing each project to make sure everything is done properly.
Twinbuilt is not the cheapest option in Canberra - and that’s intentional.

What is the difference between a Carpenter/Joiner Licence and a Renovation Licence?
The Renovation Licence is the big one. Most joinery companies only have a Carpenter/Joiner Licence. They can build and install cabinetry, but they cannot legally manage plumbers, electricians, or other trades on your project. Jesse holds both, which means TwinBuilt can manage your entire renovation end-to-end, legally and properly.
Do you use subcontractors?
We have a trusted network of trade partners, including plumbers, electricians, plasterers, and tilers, who have been with us for years. Jesse manages and supervises all of them on-site. As he puts it: "My plumber went and got a higher-grade fitting even though the cheap one came with the sink. He didn't tell me. He just did it. That's the kind of people I work with.

What is the ACFA?
The Australian Carpentry and Furniture Association. It is an industry body more specific to joinery and renovation work than the HIA (which is more builder-focused). Jesse transitioned to ACFA because it is a better fit for what TwinBuilt does.
